Ok friends. We’ve been bad at maintaining this site, but that’s not to say we haven’t been busy!
In the time since our last post: we’ve slowed down on the touring (well, pretty much come to an abrupt halt!); recorded an album and pressed it to vinyl; become “working stiffs”; and now we’re proud to announce the arrival of yet another new release… this one in baby form! Ch Ch Changes!
Picture the Ocean is still going strong folks, and there are plans to release the new album in September of this year. We’ve been asked to play in a few festivals this year too and will be toting our new vinyl, Something Real, as well as our CDs to each one. You’ll catch us at Sasquatch Gathering (July 22-24) AND Arts Wells Festival of All Things Art (July 29-August 1)! Thank you to the Found Festival for having us as part of your program this past June 25.
We will be sure to announce the Official Edmonton Release date of this new record as soon as it has been solidified.
We will be appearing as part of a neat music series in Camrose, AB at the Bailey Theatre on November 10th with our good pal Bramwell Park joining us. Please stay tuned for more details on this lovely show.
When we’re not performing as Picture the Ocean this summer, we’re playing with a whole slew of characters, including: Scott Cook & The Long Weekends @ Wild Oats & Notes (passed – June 28-July 1) and South Country Fair (soon! July 15-17); Joe Nolan @ North Country Fair (passed – June 15-17), Interstellar Rodeo – YEG (July 24) and Winnipeg (August 13); Tribute to Joe Cocker – Mad Dogs Experience @ North Country Fair (passed – June 15-17), Canada Day celebration @ The Needle YEG (passed – July 2), Edmonton Rock Fest (August 12). So much going on this summer!!
And yes, our sweet sweet baby news: December 17th is the predicted date of arrival of this little bundle of joy, uncertainty, adventure, and crazy love. If Melissa McLelland and Luke Doucet (Whitehorse) can do it; and if Pharis & Jason Romero can do it; and if Heather Blush and Upper Cut partner can do it; if Ember Swift and partner can do it; if Rachel Van Zanten can do it; then surely we can do it! What a beautiful thing it is to be able to share music with your partner, to share this crazy life with the person you love most. And then to make a baby with that person? Sheesh. It’s just the most amazing thing and we can’t begin to describe and express the joy we feel.
So, perhaps we’ll see you this year somewhere, or perhaps we’ll be as a family next you catch us! Either way, we’re thinking of you and we look forward to the next time we cross paths. In the meantime, you can always order our new album online here – either in digital form or vinyl – or you can simply enjoy it by streaming it here. Of course all previous Picture the Ocean and Jesse Dee & Jacquie B recordings can be found and ordered here. (You can’t order our baby though. Sorry 😉 You’ll have to settle for incessant photos on Instagram and Facebook.)
